Business vehicles

Commercial auto insurance for Central Arkansas businesses

Start with how the vehicle is used.

The work behind the wheel

Start with how the vehicle is used

A truck can be titled in one person's name and still be doing important work for a business. Before choosing coverage, talk through who drives, what they carry, where they go and what the business asks them to do. Mid-Ark Insurance – Mark Hickman Agency can help review the options available for the actual use of your vehicles.

Questions we need to understand

  • Who owns or leases each vehicle?
  • Who drives it, and are employees allowed to take it home?
  • Is it used for job-site travel, deliveries, service calls or another business activity?
  • What equipment, materials or goods are carried?
  • Does the business use rented vehicles or employees' personal vehicles?
  • Do customer contracts require particular limits or documentation?

Tell the agent about changes before they become surprises on an application or claim. The right conversation includes both the vehicle and the work behind it.

Does every work vehicle need the same policy?

No single answer fits every activity or insurer. A personal policy's treatment of business use depends on its terms and the actual use of the vehicle. Commercial coverage also has eligibility requirements, options and exclusions. We can review the information and explain which questions need to be resolved with the carrier.

The vehicle and its contents are separate questions

If tools or equipment ride in a work truck, ask how they are insured. Do not assume a policy covering the truck provides the protection you want for everything inside it. The type of property, where it is kept and the policy terms matter.

Before you request a quote

Have a vehicle list, driver information, a description of the business and your current insurance documents available. Tell us about required start dates and any customer contract. Begin with a brief inquiry; the team can explain what additional information is needed and how to provide it.

Questions business owners ask

Can an employee's personal vehicle create a business insurance question?

Yes. Describe any errands, deliveries or other driving employees do for the business. Ask the agent how the proposed policies address that exposure and whether additional protection should be considered.

Does a certificate add coverage?

A certificate summarizes insurance information. Changes to coverage may require policy changes or endorsements. Send the actual contract requirements so the team can review them. Read the existing contractor-certificate guide for more detail.

Read the contractor certificate of insurance guide.

Can you promise the lowest price or same-day coverage?

Price, eligibility and timing depend on the information, requested coverage and carrier review. Ask about the available choices and what is needed to move forward.

General information only. Eligibility, coverage, exclusions, costs and effective dates depend on the insurer and policy. Submitting an inquiry does not bind or change coverage.

Talk through the next job or the next vehicle

If you have added a driver, bought another truck or changed the work you do, let us know. We can help you review the insurance questions that come with that change.
